Gangotri and Yamunotri are two sacred temples located in the Uttarkashi district of the state of Uttarakhand, India. These temples are part of the Char Dham Yatra, an important pilgrimage circuit for Hindus, and hold great religious significance.

Gangotri Temple:

Gangotri Temple is dedicated to Goddess Ganga, the personification of the holy River Ganges. Yamunotri Temple:

Yamunotri Temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, the personification of the holy Yamuna River. It is located at an altitude of around 3,293 meters (10,804 feet) above sea level in the Garhwal Himalayas. The temple is the source of the Yamuna River and holds great religious significance for Hindus.

According to Hindu mythology, the temple is associated with the sage Asit Muni, who is said to have bathed in the hot springs near the temple. The hot water springs, known as "Surya Kund" and "Gauri Kund," are popular attractions for devotees visiting the Yamunotri Temple.

Both Gangotri and Yamunotri are accessible by trekking, and the journey to these temples offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscapes and pristine natural beauty.
