To stop this destruction, Lord Vishnu severed Sati's body into pieces with his Sudarshana Chakra, and her various body parts fell at different locations across the Indian subcontinent. The womb and genitalia of the Goddess are believed to have fallen at the Nilachal Hill, where the Kamakhya Temple stands today.
Unique Tantric Practices: The Kamakhya Temple is also known for its unique Tantric practices and rituals. It is believed to be a center for Tantric worship, and some ceremonies performed here are not openly discussed or disclosed to the general public.
Ambubachi Mela: One of the major festivals celebrated at the Kamakhya Temple is the Ambubachi Mela. It is a four-day-long festival held during the monsoon season when the temple is closed to devotees. It is believed that during these four days, the Goddess menstruates, and the temple remains closed as a symbol of her fertility and power.
